With a Board that is operated entirely by volunteers, the North Central Health Care Foundation has been raising funds to support the ongoing delivery of healthcare services in Melfort and area since 2001. Working closely with the Health Region’s Facilities in Melfort, the NCHCF is able to determine the highest priorities each year so that funds are always directed to the areas of care where they are needed most. Since its inception, the Foundation has raised more than $1,000,000 toward the furnishing of Parkland Place and additional funds to meet the needs at Melfort Hospital, Parkland Place (including the Therapies Department), Nirvana Assisted Living, and Home Care services in Melfort. The North Central Health Care Foundation has also raised over $510,000 for upgrading the digital imaging services at the Melfort Hospital, over $77,000 for a new incubator and over $750,000 to fund a new heliport emergency transportation unit for patients in critical need.
Meet Our Volunteer Board of Directors

Peggy George
Chair
My involvement with the Foundation started in August 2002 when I was asked to set up the new gift shop in Parkland Place. I have been volunteering ever since, as well as managing the hospital gift shop and Mary’s Gifts at Parkland Place since 2004. I joined the NCHC Foundation Board in 2014 and have been Chair since 2017.

Kathy Gray
Treasurer
My involvement with the Foundation started in 2017 as a director. In 2021 I took on the role of Secretary/Treasurer. I also enjoy volunteering for some shifts at the Foundations Gift Shop. Over and over Melfort and area citizens show examples of compassion, generosity, and kindness and the Foundation is often the recipient. It is rewarding to being part of the process to support local healthcare services.

Susan Moldowan
Director
I have lived in and around this community all my life. Retired after a 40 year career with Sasktel. Community services are very important so as of March 2022 I have joined the NCHC Foundation Board.

Sherri Carlson
Director
I was approached by Sharon Beaulieu about supporting the NCHCF and then she asked if I would be interested in being on the foundation board. I joined in 2017 and have been eager to assist our community. I also sit on the Donor’s Choice Board as the representative from the NCHCF. Unfortunately, I have only been able to attend a few community events for the NCHCF and then Covid hit. I look forward to future fundraisers and community events that support our foundation.

Lorana McComber
Director
Melfort has been home to me for most of my life, raised my family here and now looking forward to having our grandchildren grow up here as well.
I have been involved with numerous committees and boards throughout the years.
I joined the NCHC Foundation May 2022 and am excited to be involved with this foundation and once again help give back to this great community I’m proud to call home!

Sherry Mahon
Director
I was born and raised in Melfort. I was employed as a Registered Nurse at the Melfort Hospital of 34 years of my 38 year career. In my retirement I enjoy gardening, golfing, swimming and spending time with my grandchildren. I also enjoy playing the piano. I am very pleased to volunteer with the North Central Health Care Foundation.

Monica Slobodzian
Director
I am a proud Momma, a Grandma, & a Community Member in the best area of our beautiful province of Saskatchewan. I began my journey in healthcare at the Plains Health Centre in Regina in 1984. My husband and I have both journeyed with the development of Regions, to Districts, to our current SHA. I have seen so much change in our every day service delivery to our patients, resident’s and clients. I recognize the challenges we meet & see on a daily basis. I have always told my children that “in order to effect change, you must participate positively in change”. I hope that by being involved with the NCHCF…I can lead by example. I look forward to working alongside this amazing group of dedicated people…together “We can BE THE CHANGE”

Brian Enge
Director
I started with the North Central Health Care Foundation in fall of 2024. I have also had the pleasure to sit on Melfort City council for 3 terms and worked with the Melfort Health Advocacy Committee as well as being involved in the development of the Wellness Center during those terms. I feel that no matter the demographic a person is in, we all need these very important health services. I look forward to working with the Foundation towards the goal of high levels of services, facilities and care for the area.
